Raw Word files hold the material but not the system: headings are applied by hand, tables and graphics sit as pasted objects, and nothing guarantees that chapter four looks like chapter one, let alone like the other three books. With four books meant to be studied side by side, the work was building one set of rules and applying it everywhere, not tidying four documents separately.
Raw Word documents. Tables, graphics and text present but unstyled, with no shared hierarchy and no navigation built in.
Four books on one system: uniform hierarchy, designed openings, a book contents page, a contents page per chapter, and rebuilt tables, graphics and text boxes.
Every heading level, chapter opening, section opening and reference page was defined once and applied across all four books, so a student moving from one module to the next never has to relearn the layout.
A single heading and text hierarchy shared by all four books, so the same kind of content always looks the same.
Designed opening pages for chapters and sections, so readers can tell where they are at a glance.
Reference pages formatted consistently across the set, so lookups work the same in every book.
A table of contents for each book, plus one for each chapter, so a reader can jump from the whole book down to a single topic.
Diagrams and graphics brought in raw were rebuilt to sit cleanly within the page grid and match the books' styling.
Tables and text boxes restyled to one consistent look, readable at course-book density.

Producing course books or study material for a qualification that needs a consistent, professional look across modules.
Holding finished content in Word that needs real structure, hierarchy and navigation before it goes to students.
Working on accounting, finance or technical books where complex tables, graphics and text boxes must stay clear and consistent.

Raw Word documents. The tables, graphics and material were already in the files, but in raw form, so the job was formatting and structure rather than writing or rewriting content.
Applying one uniform hierarchy across all four books, designing chapter openings, section openings and reference pages, building a book TOC and a TOC for each chapter, and rebuilding complex graphics, tables and text boxes.
The book TOC shows the whole book at a glance, while each chapter TOC lists that chapter's topics at its start. Together they let a student find a topic quickly and see how a chapter is organised before reading it.
By defining one set of styles and page types and applying it to every book, rather than formatting each book on its own and trying to match them afterwards.
